AAST 32nd Annual Meeting

The American Association of Sleep Technologists (AAST) has been hosting the premier annual meeting for sleep technologists and allied healthcare professionals for over thirty years. This year, the 32nd Annual Meeting of the American Association of Sleep Technologists will be hosted at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas on June 6-9, 2010.

The AAST 32nd Annual Meeting program addresses the interests, professional skills and educational needs of each attendee. The meeting features a full-day of postgraduate courses and three days of general sessions, which include an assortment of workshops, invited lecturer presentations, symposia, discussion groups and focus groups. Do not miss this opportunity to learn about current issues, changes and advancements within the sleep technology profession!

The meeting provides valuable networking opportunities and access to the SLEEP 2010 exhibit hall, which will also be located at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center.

Postgraduate Courses

The AAST 32nd Annual Meeting will begin with postgraduate courses on Sunday, June 6, 2010. Choose between four full-day courses, each providing an intensive review of different trends and topics that are encountered by technologists on a daily basis.

AAST Workshops

Attend these two-hour forums and discuss emerging practices, concepts and technologies. These sessions also focus on controversial topics and/or relevant, challenging situations that demonstrate the critical thinking process utilized within the profession. AAST workshops are offered on Monday, June 7.

Invited Lecturers

Join four prominent leaders in the field of sleep medicine as they address outstanding issues and concerns within their respective disciplines as well as sleep technology. The lecturers are nominated and invited by the AAST Program Committee. The one-hour keynote speaker presentations will be on Tuesday, June 8 and Wednesday, June 9.

Symposia

Get up to speed and attend these one to two-hour sessions focusing on the latest data and ideas in sleep technology. Choose between a wide variety of symposia offered on Tuesday, June 8 and Wednesday, June 9.

Discussion Groups

Interested in discussing current issues and trends with sleep technology experts? Discussion groups will be sure to stimulate interest as a panel of discussants present various data and a series of questions to initiate conversation between the panel and audience.

Focus Groups

AAST members attending the 32nd Annual Meeting in San Antonio, Texas have an opportunity to participate in one of five Focus Groups and earn 1.50 AAST CECs. Following are the five focus group topics:

  • Legal Regulatory Issues
    Moderator: Jayme Matchinski, JD
  • How Big is Accreditation?
    Moderator: Brian Foresman, DO
  • RPSGT Certification Exam
    Moderator: Becky Appenzeller, RPSGT
  • Automated Scoring
    Moderator: Richard Bogan, MD
  • State Sleep Societies
    Moderator: Timothy Ruse, MEd, RPSGT

(Focus Groups will be held on Monday, June 7, 2010 from 5:15pm to 6:45pm at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center.)

Each Focus Group will receive reading materials (i.e. scientific articles/technical guidelines etc.) in advance of the meeting in preparation for the on-site discussion. Each group will be given an opportunity to continue the discussion after the meeting via the Discussion Forum on the AAST Web site. There is no additional fee to attend, but seating is limited to 10 participants per topic.

To participate in this educational activity, members will need to first register for the AAST 32nd Annual Meeting, then pre-register for this event. To register for this event, fax the completed Registration Form to the AAST national office at (708) 273-9344 by no later than May 14, 2010.
