Continuing Education
The American Association of Sleep Technologists (AAST) provides sleep professionals
with a variety of educational opportunities to enhance their understanding of polysomnography
and to provide continuing education credits.
The AAST has been
hosting the premier annual meeting for sleep technologists and allied healthcare
professionals for over thirty years. This year, the 31st Annual Meeting of the American
Association of Sleep Technologists will be hosted at the Sheraton Seattle in Seattle,
Washington on June 7-10, 2009.
Advances in Sleep
Technology: Sleep and Breathing - This two-day course focuses on the current state
of polysomnography with a special emphasis on respiratory monitoring and the treatment
of sleep related breathing disorders with CPAP. The course will outline the standards
for monitoring respiration during sleep.
The AAST provides
educational providers with the opportunity to offer Continuing Education Credits
(CEC) to their students.

Standardized education
though the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP)
and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) developed the Accredited Sleep
Technologist Education Program (A-STEP).
