SUMMARY:Beyond AHI: Improving OSA Risk Stratification
DESCRIPTION:The apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) has long been the cornerstone of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) diagnosis and severity classification. While AHI remains an important clinical metric\, growing evidence suggests it may not fully capture disease complexity or accurately predict cardiovascular risk. \nThis webinar explores the development of AHI\, including its strengths and limitations. It examines hypoxic burden—an emerging metric that measures the cumulative impact of oxygen desaturation during sleep and may better predict cardiovascular events and mortality. \nParticipants will also learn how OSA phenotyping and precision medicine are advancing more personalized approaches to diagnosis and treatment. \nDiscover practical applications for sleep laboratories\, home sleep apnea testing (HSAT) platforms\, and cardiovascular screening\, while exploring how multimodal OSA metrics may shape the future of clinical practice and improve patient outcomes.

SUMMARY:From RPSGT to CCSH: Strengthening Patient Outcomes Through Education\, Navigation\, and Continuity of Care
DESCRIPTION:May 19th | 4 – 5 PM ET\n\n \n\nRedefining the Role of Sleep Technologists in Modern Patient Care \nThis session explores the evolving role of the Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) and the Certified Clinical Sleep Health (CCSH) professional in improving patient outcomes across the continuum of care.  \nParticipants will examine how expanding beyond traditional diagnostic responsibilities to include patient education\, care navigation\, and follow-up support strengthens communication with providers and leadership while improving clinical outcomes. \nKey performance indicators\, including obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) identification\, diagnostic test follow-through\, progression to treatment\, and long-term adherence will be reviewed to demonstrate the impact of structured patient engagement and continuity of care.  \nThe session will also address common gaps in patient education and referral pathways\, particularly for patients referred by non–sleep physicians. Emphasis will be placed on how patients are educated on the purpose of testing\, what to expect after the study\, and how follow-up and continuity of care influence adherence and long-term outcomes.
